Sharm el Sheikh is Egypt’s oldest and most popular beach resort. It
offers a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and offers
visitors an exciting range of activities and excursions. Its nearby
reefs also offer some of the best scuba diving in the world.
Na’ama Bay The most popular area is Na’ama Bay where you
will find an array of shops, bars and restaurants. If you want to be in
the centre of the action then Na’ama Bay is the place to be.
Ras Um Sid A short taxi ride to the south of Na’ama Bay is Ras
Um Sid. This is a rocky headland and the hotels overlook the ocean offer
wonderful views.
Ras Nasrani, Sharks Bay, White Knight Bay & Nabq Bay The
area close to the airport and running north is seeing major growth and
Nabq Bay is set to become the second centre of Sharm el Sheikh. There
are a number of 5* hotels in this area with excellent reefs for
snorkeling and diving. It was in this area in June 2008 that a baitball
of sardines was spotted being attacked by 3 whale sharks in an amazing
display of nature that lasted all day. It was just 300m from the shore.
Old Town Heading south from Ras Um Sid, you will find the old
town of Sharm which has a number of shops and restaurants. Although not
quite as many as Na’ama Bay, it is worth taking the short taxi ride and
its an excellent place to buy fresh fruit.

Getting There & Around
Most visitors to Sharm arrive at Sharm el Sheikh international airport
which is located a few miles north of Na’ama Bay. In addition to
scheduled flights to other parts of Egypt,
there are a frequent number of charter flights to all parts of Europe.
Sharm can also be reached by sea with a regular ferry service to Hurghada
and Aqaba in Jordan.
There is also a bus service to Cairo.
In Sharm, the easiest way to get around is by one of the many taxis
which are impossible to miss. Make sure you agree a price first and
don’t be afraid to haggle. There is always a driver who will take you
where you want to go.

Who it suits
In its earlier days, Sharm el Sheikh was a hotspot for divers. Today, it
is still incredibly with divers and snorkellers but the resort has
developed into a destination with something for everyone. Na’ama Bay
offers a good selection of nightlife for those wanting a bit of evening
entertainment. The 5* hotels tend to be more secluded to suit those in
search of a quieter holiday. Sharm is a magical place for all the family
and can be as hectic or relaxing as you make it. There is plenty to do
for the adventurous, camel riding, quad biking through the desert,
diving, snorkelling, bartering at the shops or just relaxing in the
gorgeous clear Red Sea soaking up the never ending sunshine.
You can book
your holiday to Sharm online but if you would like to visit as part
of a multi-centre holiday, please call us on 0208 816 8789 and
we'll be happy to help plan your itinerary. Alternatively, you can email
us via the 'Contact Us'
page.
