Within the ancient city there is a fountain where Byzantine citizens once annually celebrated Jesus’ miracle of turning water into wine. The streets are lined with columns and along with the plazas, temples, theatres and churches all help to make Jerash the second most important historical destination for tourists in Jordan after the Lost City of Petra. Jerash Festival
Visitors to the Jerash Festival can see a wide variety of singers, dancers, poetry readings, orchestra, ballet, Shakespeare theatre and much more. The festival takes place in the ancient city of Jerash which provides an unforgettable backdrop. July and August is traditionally a quieter time for tourism in Jordan so it is relatively easy to explore Jordan’s other attractions during the day before the festival commences with its evening performances between 5-11pm.
