Introduction to Eilat

A modern concrete and marble resort that has sprung up in the midst of a stark, arid landscape. The drama of the scenery is heightened by the incredible blue water of the Gulf of Eilat. The submarine scenery, reefs and fish, are the true beauties. A "laid-back" city with a shorts and sandals feeling of a true "getaway" resort. The main attractions are at the beach, sea and hotels; most of which are on the North beach, within walking distance of the city. The city itself, is modern with well-stocked shopping centres and a good selection of restaurants (all price ranges). The shoreline to the south has several hotels in a variety of style and price ranges, plus a good selection of tourist attractions.

Getting There & Around

Eilat is served by two airports; Eilat Airport (ETH) is right in the middle of the city and Ovda International (VDA) is about 40 miles away. A 3rd option is to fly to Taba which is just over the border in Egypt. Once in Eilat, frequent, inexpensive public transportation runs to every corner of the city. Taxis (metered) available to order, or on the street (inexpensive). Eilat has a fairly reliable bus network, including a service running regularly between the town and Coral Beach. Car hire is a fairly popular option especially for visitors who want to tour, the road system is very user friendly with road signs in English as well as Hebrew and Arabic.

Weather

Eilat is Israel’s southern most resort and offers better temperatures than the Mediterranean resorts. The average daily temperatures in Celcius:
