Itinerary

Day 1 To Amman: Fly from London to Amman with Royal Jordanian Airlines. Transfer to the Kempinski Hotel Amman for 2 nights

Day 2 Jerash & Amman: Morning tour of the ancient city of Jerash. Afternoon tour of Amman, visiting the citadel and Roman Theatre (B, L, D)

Day 3 To Petra: Travel along the King’s Way visiting Madaba, home to a Byzantine mosaic map of the region; Mount Nebo from where Moses first viewed the Holy Land and the 12th century Crusader castle of Karak. Continue to Petra and stay 3 nights at the Crowne Plaza Petra (B, L, D)

Day 4 Petra: Take a guided tour of Petra, the rose-red’ city rediscovered by J.L.Burckhardt in 1812. Enter the city through the Siq Canyon which opens out in front of the dramatic Treasury tomb (B, D)

Day 5 Petra: Morning visit to Little Petra before returning to the main site with your guide. Evening visit to ‘Petra by Candlelight’ (B, D)

Day 6 To Dead Sea: Morning drive to Wadi Rum for a 4x4 excursion into the desert. Afternoon transfer to the Dead Sea. Stay 2 nights at the Kempinkski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea (B)

Day 7 Dead Sea: Day at leisure. Optional morning excursion to the baptism site at Bethany on the Jordan (payable locally) (B)

Day 8 To London: Morning transfer to Amman airport to take your return flight to London with Royal Jordanian Airlines

Note: This tour involves walking over rough terrain. At Petra, visiting the Monastery and High Place of Sacrifice requires a steep climb.
